Officially, the love story of Rebecca Bedosky and Nicholas De Lotto began in the summer of 2015, when the couple caught each other’s eyes at the gym in their hometown in Connecticut, USA. But, it was social media that brought the pair together in the months that followed, when animator, Nick, mustered up the courage to reach out to Rebecca on Instagram. “He slid into my DMs,” Rebecca tells Dream Weddings, “we spent the next week or so messaging each other 24/7 until Nick invited me on a date to see the Minions movie. To this day, Nick still reminds me of the way I skipped down the hill with a huge smile on my face when he pulled into my driveway to pick me up. This is the moment we actually met.”

Fast forward a few dates later and Nick had a surprise for Rebecca. “It was my 18th birthday. When Nick took me home, he reached into the trunk of the car and presented me with a large stuffed Minion,” the bride shares, “once inside my house I leaned back against the front door and squeezed the adorable stuffed creature. It was like a scene out of a romantic comedy! It was then I knew it was the beginning of something incredible.”

In 2021, Nick was offered a job as an animator with Pixar Animation Studios. “He was going to work on Lightyear, Pixar’s newest movie featuring none-other-than Buzz Lightyear.” Rebecca shares. But the opportunity meant that Nick would need to relocate to San Francisco Bay. “Prior to the move, we spent many nights discussing what this meant for our relationship. Initially, I was reluctant about the idea of moving across the country away from my family and friends – and leaving my teaching job that I loved. But I realised this was part of our story, and I knew that I needed to go.”

Following a romantic proposal, the bride began planning the wedding of her dreams with the help of her mother-in-law. “Even though I’m from Connecticut, I knew that I wanted to get married in New Jersey. As I researched various venues in the area, I stumbled upon The Park Savoy Estate in Florham Park. Immediately, I knew this was the one. We booked it before even going to see it,” Rebecca recalls, “which I realised was a little rash on my part, but I was certain with my choice.”

“I wanted the wedding to feel elegant and romantic,” Rebecca shares, “the colour scheme was white and gold.” The concept was created with the intention of transporting guests into a fairy tale fantasy. “All of the songs we chose for our wedding were also selected to create this feeling that we were going for.”

On September 2, 2023, the bride made her grand entrance to a live instrumental version of Pachelbel’s Canon in D. Dressed in a Pnina Tornai gown and accompanied by her father, Rebecca made her way down the aisle to meet her soulmate in front of 175 guests. Sealing their union with heartfelt handwritten vows, the couple opted for a religious ceremony, officiated by Rebecca’s aunt. “Erica is like a second mother to me.” The bride explains. “I grew up in a Christian household, so it was important for me to feel the presence of the Lord during our ceremony. Therefore, we had two of my little cousins read 1 Corinthians 13: 4-13, and my aunt’s fiancé sang the song, Goodness of God.

Taking their seats in the venue’s beautiful reception room, guests dined on a bespoke buffet that featured mouth-watering dishes from across the globe. Tablescapes featured fragrant florals including white roses, hydrangeas, Italian ruscus and silver dollar eucalyptus. What followed was an evening of celebrations to toast the couple, with the bride and groom sharing their first dance on a custom-designed monogrammed dance floor, to Until I Found You, by Stephen Sanchez.

The fairy tale theme continued after the wedding when Rebecca and Nick jetted off to Bora Bora for their honeymoon. “We stayed at the Conrad Bora Bora Nui – this is where Kim Kardashian famously lost her diamond earring.” Rebecca shares. “The trip was a dream come true and we will forever be grateful for the incredible experience.”
