What does freedom smell like? For Mona Kattan, Founder and CEO of Kayali, it is the quiet power of musk – timeless, sensual and infinitely expressive. “The story behind the Freedom collection is deeply personal to me. It was inspired by my own journey toward independence and learning to fully embrace who I am without holding myself back,” she tells Dream Weddings. “I started asking myself, what does freedom smell like? And for me, it had to be musk. In the ’60s, women wore musk as a form of rebellion, stepping away from traditional florals to express strength and confidence. That energy really inspired me.”
That spirit of defiance and authenticity is laced into every drop of the Freedom collection’s four scents, each conceived as an ode to individuality and an intimate dialogue between scent and soul.
Freedom Musk Bouquet | 27 feels like a luminous summer dream where ylang-ylang and solar jasmine shimmer against the sparkle of pink pepper. At its heart, Turkish rose blooms, its petals softened by vanilla musk and ambrette, while creamy sandalwood and the Kayali signature accord hum beneath like low, sensual notes, leaving a trail of confidence in their wake.
Freedom Musk Santal | 34 follows with a different rhythm. Effervescent bergamot and mandarin ignite the senses before dissolving into a delicate haze of frankincense and white florals. As the fragrance deepens, sandalwood and vanilla melt into amber musk, cocooning the skin in a warm glow.
The third fragrance in the collection, Freedom Musk Latte | 41 is pure indulgence in a bottle. Cinnamon and pink pepper dance with a vibrant burst of mandarin, while a rich heart of velvety café latte and aromatic lavender threads through like a soft echo. At its base, cedarwood and chocolate musk melt into the skin, creating a fragrance that feels rich, comforting and impossibly chic.
The last fragrance in the quartet is Freedom Musk Matcha | 45, a comforting fragrance with an earthy yet sweet scent. Opening with fresh matcha, maté and bergamot, the juice transitions into a creamy heart of vanilla, oat milk and caramelised praline lending a tender sweetness. As it settles, sandalwood, sweet musk and the Kayali signature accord create an aura of serenity.
