Mixology And Masterpieces Collide At Velvet By Salvatore Calabrese

Corinthia London’s opulent champagne and cocktail bar unveils The Pixel Book, an innovative, hyper-creative menu inspired by iconic works of art

Nestled within the storied walls of Corinthia London, Velvet by Salvatore Calabrese is an opulent and intimate champagne and cocktail bar – a haute hangout for those in the know. Debuting in November 2022 under the esteemed direction of internationally celebrated mixologist Salvatore Calabrese – affectionately known as “The Maestro” – the bar is designed to embody the enchanting magic and theatre of hospitality. Discreetly concealed behind sumptuous velvet curtains, the esteemed craft of cocktail creation is artfully reimagined. With an exquisite menu that showcases time-honoured classics alongside modern concoctions infused with innovative flair, the establishment has swiftly emerged as one of London’s most coveted destinations.

Situated on the ground floor of the illustrious hotel, the interior décor exudes after-dark sophistication. Rich shades of crimson and royal blue, complemented by deep velvet draperies bestow a glamorous ambiance alongside convex mirrors, lavish lighting and specially commissioned artworks – evoking a nod to the early 20th century.

This month, under the guidance of Calabrese and seasoned bar manager Christian Maspes, Velvet by Salvatore Calabrese mesmerises guests with a bold new approach to mixology – introducing The Pixel Book, a visionary cocktail menu inspired by iconic artistic masterpieces. These timeless masterpieces have been reimagined and vividly brought to life through curated, AI-assisted visuals. Paying tribute to the original artists, the skilled mixology team – led by Calabrese – has masterfully transformed these classics into contemporary creations that embody the spirit of the bar. Inspirations include Andy Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup Cans, Edvard Munch’s The Scream, Van Gogh’s Starry Night, and Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. Each cocktail is presented in a bespoke sustainable vessel, many of which are 3D-printed and meticulously crafted within Velvet by Salvatore Calabrese’s dedicated mixology lab at Corinthia London.

A standout is The Enigma. Inspired by Mona Lisa, this cocktail is a bold expression of flavours. A delicate balance of Grey Goose vodka, nitro Champagne vermouth, olive distillate, hazelnut brine and St. Germain elderflower liquor, each sip is a brushstroke of flavour. It is art you can taste.

A celebration of creativity, elegance and the seamless blend of tradition and innovation, this date-night hotspot deserves a prime spot your must-visit list.
