YSL Beauty unveils a new chapter in its Libre portfolio.
A new, anti-conformist floral blast featuring the desert lily accord exclusively crafted for the fashion house, YSL Beauty Libre Flowers & Flames, the new fragrance created by Anne Flipo and Carlos Benaïm, is a sizzling tribute to the couture desert bloom – a flower so resilient it is the only floral to thrive in such a raw and arid environment. Bold, blazing and unexpected, the desert lily accord intertwines with its white floral counterparts — tuberose and orange blossom — culminating in the most elegantly feminine interpretation of YSL Beauty’s iconic floral compositions.
“White flowers have a sunny, opulent and sensual character that brings an enveloping and carnal sensation to Libre Flowers & Flames. By adding this white floral inflection, we wanted to boost the radiant, addictive trail of this new, more solar, more burning interpretation of Libre.” Anne Flipo and Carlos Benaïm, Master Perfumers of Libre, share.
In a tribute to the house’s heritage and to Yves Saint Laurent’s favourite flower, the brand has reimagined the captivating fragrance of the luminescent desert lily, an ardent floral accord that fires up the regal bloom with warm and spicy notes. With its hints of coconut, vanilla, monoi, ylang-ylang and jasmine, the palm flower accord reproduces the unique scent of the Moroccan bloom, captured in the blazing afternoon in YSL Beauty’s Ourika Community Gardens. This ingredient, never before utilised in a fragrance, brings an unparalleled texture, creaminess, and softness to the composition.

The exquisite bottle, conceived by Suzanne Dalton, is adorned with a hue reminiscent of golden sand, reflecting the brilliance and warmth of its olfactory notes. Set against the warm glow of this taupe backdrop, the gold of the oversized horizontal Cassandre logo glimmers with radiance. Elegantly contoured to align with the bottle’s sharp angles, this emblem — an engineering feat — radiates like a piece of couture jewellery.
In a further touch of sophistication, a precision-cut glass V accentuates the décolletage of the Y, delving deeply into the glass of the geometric vessel, reminiscent of a meticulously tailored Saint Laurent tuxedo, while accentuating the juice’s interplay with light through its glistening lacquering. Adding an element of couture asymmetry, the slanted black cap that crowns the bottle beautifully complements the sleek golden chain adorning its neck.
A truly fitting addition to the boudoir of any fragrance aficionado, could this enchanting new scent indeed be ‘the one’?
