Editor’s Letter | Dream Weddings Summer 2026

Nina Catt pens an intimate ode to one year, as Dream Weddings celebrates its first birthday

There is something quietly transformative about the passing of a single year. It unfolds with a gentle inevitability, yet leaves us altered all the same. Measured in months, it can feel modest, almost fleeting. And yet, when examined more closely, it reveals its true scale. A year has the capacity to hold an entire world within it, composed of beginnings and endings, questions and certainties, moments that pass unnoticed and others that reshape us entirely.

It is only in looking back that I begin to understand how much can change within that passage, how subtly and how completely it shifts us.

In weddings, we often place meaning on a single day. One date encircled, one moment thoughtfully curated. But a marriage, much like a life, isn’t defined by a singular moment, however beautiful. It is shaped by time, by the accumulation of days that follow and by the choices made again and again, without audience.

It is here that a year reveals its deeper significance. Not merely as a measure, but as a turning point, a soft yet meaningful milestone that invites reflection. Reflection on what has been, but above all, on what has taken root. And it is here, perhaps, that we begin to understand what that year has made possible. Love begins to deepen into something steadier, less defined by declaration and more by understanding.

This first anniversary issue of Dream Weddings is, in many ways, a meditation on that evolution. It is not only a celebration of time passed, but of time held with intention. Over the past year, we have been entrusted with stories that extend far beyond beauty. Stories consisting of nuance, of depth and of profound emotion. Each one
a reflection not only of a moment, but of a life beginning to unfold within it.

There is a particular romance in this kind of remembering. In the way time distils what matters, leaving only what is felt intensely enough to remain. A year offers just enough distance to see clearly, and just enough closeness to feel the weight of what counts.

And perhaps that is what time gradually teaches us.

So we arrive at this moment with gratitude, of course, but also with a heightened awareness of what it means to have lived it. For what has been created, for what has endured and for all that continues to evolve. Because time, in itself, isn’t what gives life its meaning. It is what we hold within it, what we return to and what we choose to carry forward – with all that we are.

Enjoy the issue…

With love,
